Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, UX/UI Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of professional experience in visual design and UX/UI design for digital products.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design and user-centered UI/UX work.
- Proficiency in Adobe XD; experience with Figma or Sketch is a plus.
- Knowledge of usability principles, accessibility standards (Section 508, DHS Trusted Tester), and interaction design best practices.
- Experience creating user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and polished visual assets.
- Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM workflows, USWDS, 18F Design Methods, and mobile platform standards (iOS/Android).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a citizen of a U.S. territory; able to pass background check, drug screening, and medical assessment.
Responsibilities
- Apply a user-centered design approach to validate and refine product requirements.
- Design UX/UI deliverables from concept to execution, including personas, journey maps, site maps, flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions.
- Present UX/UI designs and rationale to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Developers, QA, Product Managers, and Marketing to ensure seamless product delivery.
- Advocate for usability, accessibility, and responsive design best practices.
- Maintain and contribute to design systems and documentation.
- Continuously improve internal design processes and deliverables.
- Create visual assets for digital and print use, including marketing campaigns, presentations, and branded collateral.
